Counselling for ED

Although underrated or simply ignored by many, counselling is an important part of ED treatment. It is a sensitive topic and it is common for those suffering from ED to avoid seeking help. However, it is important to remember that ED is not always due to medical problems, and can at times be psychological too.

ED brings along with it a lot of emotional stress which can have a negative impact on the psychological wellbeing of an individual. The experience itself is challenging and not seeking timely help can further create problems. If the underlying medical causes are ruled out and an individual’s ED stems from stress or anxiety, counselling can help a great deal.

Your GP or primary health care provider will help you determine the underlying cause behind your ED. If your triggers are psychological then counselling has been proven to have a very positive effect. Although discussing the issue can be uncomfortable, it is important that you do so. Reach out to a good counsellor without hesitation so that you will be able to find solutions to your problems.

As well as counselling, you may also choose to utilise other methods such as the use of an erectile dysfunction pump or a combination of solutions. Counselling is a highly useful method of helping you deal with the issues you are experiencing, whether there are medical reasons behind your condition or not, so if you are suffering it may be time to consider finding a counsellor.
